“Economic Aspects of Greenhouse Gas Reduction”
Daniel Schwanen holds degrees in economics from the University of Montreal and Queen's University. Prior to joining CIGI, Mr. Schwanen was Senior Economist at the Institute for Research on Public Policy, and before that Senior Policy Analyst at the C.D. Howe Institute in Toronto. He has also been an International Economist at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, where he covered G-7 economic developments and the European Community single market process, and has worked for investment dealer Wood Gundy Inc. Mr. Schwanen specializes in trade and economic growth issues, and is the author of a number of articles and commentaries on Canada's external trade policy, North American regional integration, federalism, cultural and innovation policies, and the Kyoto Protocol on climate change.
Daniel Schwanen, CIGI Senior Fellow
A prominent Canadian economist, policy analyst and commentator on international economic policy issues, Daniel Schwanen is a senior fellow at CIGI and an expert on global economic governance, trade and regional integration. Since joining CIGI in 2004, he has contributed to the organization in senior executive and research capacities. Daniel is also Associate Vice-President, Trade and International Policy, at the C.D. Howe Institute in Toronto.
