In Afghanistan: Transition under Threat, leading Afghanistan scholars and practitioners paint a fuller picture of the situation in Afghanistan and the impact of international and particular Canadian assistance. They review the achievements of the reconstruction process and outline future challenges, focusing on key issues like the narcotics trade, the Pakistan-Afghanistan bilateral relationship, the Taliban-led insurgency, and continuing endemic poverty.

Mark Sedra, CIGI Senior Fellow

With a deep understanding of fragile, failed and conflict-affected states and the strategies that the international community deploys to address them, Mark Sedra is a globally recognized expert in conflict management and state building. Mark joined CIGI as a senior fellow in 2008, and also teaches in the department of political science at the University of Waterloo.
