Daniel Schwanen, In the News
In an online CBC News article on the G20 summit in Cannes, CIGI Senior Fellow Daniel Schwanen warns that the "eurozone financial crisis might mean governments are not paying enough attention to the long term."
In an interview with 570 News, CIGI Senior Fellow says that "the mood in Cannes is tense."
"Our reputation is quite solid; one of the reasons why Carney's name is being considered is because of that," Bessma Momani says in assessing Canada's economic reputation among G20 nations and the possibility of Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney being appointed to lead the Financial Stability Board.
In a discussion over whether or not the G8 still has a role in world affairs, Daniel Schwanen comments that its members are not only wealthy but also hold two-thirds or more of military power in the world. As such, its still a credible and viable institution that can work with, not against, the G20.
