BACKGROUND

CIGI is a partner in The European Union as a Global-Regional Actor in Security and Peace (EU GRASP) project, which consists of a consortium of European research centres plus institutes outside EU, including Canada, Israel, South Africa and China. This project is managed by The United Nations University - Comparative Regional Integration Studies in Belgium, and is funded by the European Commission. Its primary focus is the analysis of multilateralism in the context of security and peace. It will investigate the role of the EU as a regional and global actor in fostering cooperation in multilateral security governance.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

The length of the project is three years and it is divided into various work packages. CIGI will provide expertise on specific work packages throughout the three-year term. Currently, the proposed areas of collaboration include case studies pertaining to multilateralism, terrorism, conflict recovery and peace building with special reference to Afghanistan.
