CIGI is pleased to announce the appointment of Rohinton Medhora as CIGI's President. Rohinton joined CIGI as president in May after having served on CIGI's International Board of Governors since 2009. He is former vice president of programs at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

Arif Lalani joins CIGI
CIGI is pleased to announce the addition of Arif Lalani to CIGI's Operating Board of Directors. Mr. Lalani is Director-General for Strategic Policy at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT).
CIGI, INET and Mercator co-host Berlin conference
CIGI, The Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) and the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change co-hosted hosted its INET's third annual plenary conference in Berlin from April 12-15, Entitled "Paradigm Lost: Rethinking Economics and Politics," in Berlin. The event brought together 200 leading economist, policy makers and scholars.
CIGI co-sponsors conference
on Financial Stability Board
CIGI, with the Bank of Mexico and the Bank of Canada, co-sponsored a conference on the strengthening of the Financial Stability Board (FSB), in Mexico City April 12-13. The Governor of the Bank of Mexico, Agustin Carstens, the Governor of the Bank of Canada, Mark Carney, and other officials contributed to the discussion.
CIGI Signature Lecture explores human security's global importance
On May 24, Canada's former minister of foreign affairs, the Honourable Lloyd Axworthy, addressed a sold out audience at the CIGI Auditorium on the concept of human security and the responsibility to protect.
CIGI to co-host event on media's role in Arab Spring
A June 14 lecture at the CIGI Campus will focus on media in the Arab Spring. Beirut-based journalist, filmmaker and media analyst Habib Battah will explore recent developments in transnational Arab media and broadcasting.
