As part of the Program Management team, the Program Manager will be involved in the management and coordination of CIGI research programs and the continual improvement of CIGI’s program management tools and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Research Directors and program leads on program design, development, and execution, ensuring program timelines and milestones are met, including:
- Support research program design, including use of a theory of change model
- Liaising with partners, fellows, and internal teams to manage the execution of the program activities
- Preparing proposals, funding applications, and donor reporting
- Preparing program charters and planning documents including work-back schedules
- Scheduling key activities, consultations, and other steps necessary for program success
- Developing, managing, and monitoring budgets in close coordination with the Finance Department
- Administer program management agreements including contracts, invoicing, and other sensitive information
- Support active engagement by CIGI with external partners and stakeholders for each program, to include directly engaging partners and supporting CIGI to engage in a coordinated, strategic manner
- Coordinate with CIGI’s Public Affairs teams to organize of the program’s outreach activities and events, media strategy, public advocacy, and timely delivery of high quality publications
- Monitoring and evaluation activities, including tracking key metrics, preparing status updates and progress reports
- Conducting program closure activities and document lessons learned
- Work to develop, refine, and maintain the CIGI’s program management tools and processes
- Manage working relationships with CIGI Fellows and contributors to include contract management
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Program Management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- University degree, preferably in Political Science, International Affairs, Economics or related field
- Knowledge of, and familiarity with, digital economy, political economy, innovation, governance, and private industry would be an asset
- Interest in public policy and governance, and a demonstrated ability to absorb complex issues quickly and effectively
- 3 to 5 years experience managing programs, daily operations, contracts, and budgets in government, not-for-profit, or academic settings
- Ability to develop and execute a strategic approach to building relationships and managing large grant activities, deliverables, and resources
- Strong organization, coordination, and administration skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Demonstrated ability to take direction, work independently, lead team activities, and work collaboratively
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial documents, including program spreadsheets, budgets, and reports
- Experience with, or at least awareness of, foreign (non-Canadian) research and think tank communities, as well as foreign research granting sources
- Discretion, and ability to work with and to secure confidential materials
- Familiarity with common program or project management software
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, One Drive, and SharePoint
