CIGI Campus

September 2011 marks a week of activities to celebrate the new CIGI Campus. Located in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and designed by KPMB Architects, the CIGI Campus is home to a hub of research and academic institutions specializing in international affairs. Inhabitants include: CIGI itself, although the think tank will maintain its offices in the former Seagram Museum on the same property; the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) founded in 2007 in partnership among CIGI, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University; a proposed masters program in international law in partnership between CIGI and an existing Ontario law school; and other academic and research institutions.

attend a CIGI Campus Celebration. Although parts of the facility will still be under
construction, the magnificent courtyard and other features will be ready to showcase.

annual Doors Open Ontario festivities. Tours will take
place between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

CIGI Conference: Can Think Tanks Make a Difference?

CIGI hosts a day-long conference titled, Can Think Tanks Make a Difference?
This conference will feature a keynote address and three roundtable discussions
with distinguished Canadian and international experts on the role of social media
in policy innovation, the question of whether governments care more about
politics than policy, and the issue of influence - who has it and how to get it.
While open to invited participants only, the conference will be
live-webcast, available free to the public in Waterloo or anywhere
globally where the Internet is accessible.

CIGI 10th Anniversary

Founded in 2001, CIGI will celebrate its 10th anniversary during the CIGI Campus Grand Opening week, in part by issuing a tribute publication that highlights the think tank's major research programs, publications and events in its first decade - this book will be freely available to all, online. For the community at large (besides the free tours on Saturday, Sept. 17), the first of the 2011-12 CIGI Signature Lecture Series of free public events will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22.
