Florian P. Kühn

Florian P. Kühn is senior researcher and lecturer of political science and international politics at Helmut Schmidt Universität, Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg. His current research focuses on risk policy and the resilience of social figurations in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia.

Florian P. Kühn is senior researcher and lecturer of political science and international politics at Helmut Schmidt Universität, Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg. His current research focuses on risk policy and the resilience of social figurations in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia. 

He has published widely on substate security, risk as a security category, intervention and state building, developmental programs for state building, war economies (especially drug and arms trafficking) and political violence such as terrorism.

His work has been published in International Peacekeeping, International Relations and Canadian Foreign Policy Journal, among others. Since 2013, he is editor of the Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding. He has authored two books, Illusion Statebuilding (2010, with Berit Bliesemann de Guevara) and Sicherheit und Entwicklung in der Weltgesellschaft (2010), the latter of which earned him the Dissertation Award of the German Middle East Studies Association.
