Mutale Nkonde is the founding CEO of AI For the People, a non-profit communications agency.

Previously, she worked in artificial intelligence governance. During that time, she was part of the team that introduced the Algorithmic Accountability Act and the Deep Fakes Accountability Act, as well as the No Biometric Barriers to Housing Act to the US House of Representatives.

Mutale started her career as a broadcast journalist and produced documentaries for the BBC, CNN and ABC. She now also writes widely on race and technology, as well as speaks at conferences across the world. She currently holds a fellowship at the Digital Civil Society Lab at Stanford University and is an affiliate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.
