Nawroos Shibli is a program assistant for the International Law Research Program (ILRP) at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), where she provides project support, ensures positive stakeholder engagement and manages event coordination for the International Environmental Law and the Intellectual Property Rights research streams, along with larger international events. In this role, she assists with budget preparation, organizing conference materials such as program design and arranging appropriate publications and marketing materials, tracking fellow deliverables, creating and monitoring progress reports, and formalizing the peer review process for related CIGI publications.

Prior to joining CIGI, Nawroos worked as an administrative assistant for Handtmann Canada Limited where she was responsible for managing customer accounts, coordinating internal and external events and supporting the sales and accounting team with purchase agreements and financial processing. She has also held various research assistant positions at the University of Waterloo in the department of political science and McMaster University in the department of anthropology. During her university career, she was also a graduate research fellow at CIGI and a transcriber for the Grand Council of the Crees (Eeyou Istchee).

In her spare time, Nawroos is an Editorial Assistant for Stability: International Journal of Security and Development, and volunteers with CIGI’s public events team. She is also a Junior Research Fellow at the Centre for Security Governance. Nawroos graduated with a Joint Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History, with a Global Governance and International Relations Specialization, and a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Waterloo. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Global Governance from the Balsillie School of International Affairs.
