James Bacchus is a CIGI senior fellow, as well as the Distinguished University Professor of Global Affairs and director of the Center for Global Economic and Environmental Opportunity at the University of Central Florida. 

Margo A. Bagley

Margo A. Bagley 

CIGI Senior Fellow

Margo A. Bagley is a CIGI senior fellow, where she serves as a member of the traditional knowledge expert working group. At CIGI, she will be researching the intersection of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s draft Design Law Treaty with disclosure of origin requirements for traditional knowledge, genetic resources and traditional cultural expressions and the promise and peril of defensive protection for traditional knowledge. Margo also leads a number of case studies analyzing the instituted governance regime for traditional knowledge and genetic resources in Colombia and Ecuador.

Andrea Bjorklund is a CIGI senior fellow, effective May 2015. She is full professor and holder of the L. Yves Fortier Chair in International Arbitration and International Commercial Law in the Faculty of Law at McGill University. At CIGI, Andrea is researching topics in investor-state arbitration.

John Borrows

CIGI Senior Fellow

John Borrows is a CIGI senior fellow. In this role, John will provide guidance and help shape the program’s international indigenous law research. He is also the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Law at the University of Victoria Law School and the Nexen Chair in Indigenous Leadership at the Banff Centre.

Wil Burns is a CIGI senior fellow focused on research on climate geoengineering governance. Wil has published more than 75 articles in law, policy and science journals and has co-edited five books. He holds a Ph.D. in international environmental law from the University of Wales-Cardiff School of Law.

Aldo Chircop is a CIGI senior fellow and professor of law and Canada Research Chair in Maritime Law and Policy at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University.

Jorge Contreras is a CIGI senior fellow. He is a leading scholar on intellectual property (IP) law, scientific research policy and technology standards development. His research at CIGI focuses on private ordering solutions to IP issues concerning environmental and other green technologies.
