François Crépeau, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants, examines the discourses surrounding the level of engagement (political, economic, etc.) of migrants, the role that migrants play in the political landscapes of their adopted countries, and the corresponding impact this has on the rights of the migrants themselves (and the enforcement thereof). As well, the impact of recent progress on the international level in developing a comprehensive global migration governance framework will be discussed.
