Bio

Kean Birch is the director of the Institute for Technoscience & Society, Ontario Research Chair in Science Policy, and professor in the Science & Technology Studies (STS) Graduate Program and Department of Science, Technology & Society at York University, Toronto, Canada. Prior to moving to Canada in 2011, Kean worked at the University of Strathclyde and the University of Glasgow, both based in Scotland. He has been a visiting scholar at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark and the Munich Center for Technology in Society, Technical University of Munich, Germany.

Kean is the co-editor of the leading international STS journal Science as Culture, published by Taylor & Francis, and co-founder and series editor of the Technoscience and Society book series at the University of Toronto Press. His most recent books are Data Enclaves published by Palgrave Macmillan and Assetization: Turning Things into Assets in Technoscientific Capitalism, co-edited with Fabian Muniesa and open access published by MIT Press.
