“Think tanks initiate the bilateral discussion and agenda, providing an opportunity for relevant stakeholders to confer openly on crucial and futuristic subjects of interest to both countries, without restrictions.”

Gateway House Executive Director Manjeet Kripalani

Canada-India relations are healthy but far from reaching their potential. As part of a three-year partnership under the Canada-India Track 1.5 Dialogue on Innovation, Growth and Prosperity, CIGI and Gateway House met for the second time in Mumbai to explore opportunities for closer cooperation. India’s minister of external affairs praised the collaboration for “generating new ideas and pathways for our partnership.” Held alongside a major business summit, the meeting attracted attention from The Economic Times and The Globe and Mail, which highlighted CIGI’s research on cybersecurity efforts between the countries.

New research papers focused on developing sustainable energy with green bonds in India, fostering growth in digital trade and cooperation in trade in services. A final meeting under the three-year dialogue will be held in 2021 as India prepares to host the G20 summit on the seventy-fifth anniversary of its independence.
