In the public lecture, "We Are Not Job-Seekers, We Are Job-Givers," Muhammad Yunus, chairman of the Yunus Centre and founder of Grameen Bank, chronicled his journey into social business and the development of the Grameen Bank. Based on the belief that all humans have innate entrepreneurial abilities, Yunus and the Grameen Bank provide loans to the poor to give them the resources to develop their own businesses, turning job-seekers into job-givers. In their first in-person meeting, the GCIG identified research priority areas and discussed key issues of Internet governance. The meeting, chaired by Foreign Minister of Sweden Carl Bildt, clarified the subject matter for future meetings and set the pace for their two-year study on the future of multi-stakeholder Internet governance. The next meeting is scheduled for the fall of 2014. The commission is a joint initiative of CIGI and Chatham House.

CIGI has released Volume 28 of the influential Canada Among Nations book series. Co-edited by CIGI President Rohinton Medhora and Norman Peterson School of International Affairs Director Dane Rowlands, the new book addresses the Bretton Woods system, the Financial Stability Board, Europe's monetary union crises and other prominent economic issues. Crisis and Reform: Canada and the International Financial System is now available in hardcopy and digital download.

CIGI recently partnered with the Institute for New Economic Thinking to present the three-day conference "Human After All" in Toronto. The conference attracted hundreds of economic students and promiment economic players from around the world and featured keynote addresses from Larry Summers, John Ralston Saul and CIGI Chair Jim Balsillie, among others. Citing the lessons of the 2008 financial crisis, panellists tackled the failures of old economic thinking to address human psychology, needs or imperatives, and proposed ways to address these shortcomings. In the new CIGI-published book Organized Chaos, edited by Mark Raymond and Gordon Smith, leading experts address a range of pressing challenges, including cybersecurity issues and civil society hacktivism by groups such as Anonymous, and consider the international political implications of some of the most likely Internet governance scenarios to appear by 2020.

East Asia-Arctic Relations: Boundary, Security and International Politics looks at the historic, contemporary and future dimensions of East Asian countries' relationships with and interests in the Arctic. This new CIGI book is the output of an international collaborative project on East Asia-Arctic Relations.

In "Sovereign Debt Crisis Management: Lessons from the 2012 Greek Debt Restructuring," Senior Fellow Miranda Xafa offers lessons to other European countries for managing sovereign debt derived from Greece's Debt Restructuring.

CIGI President Rohinton Medhora and David Malone are co-authors of "Development: Advancement through International Organizations," a CIGI paper examining the history of international organizations. Their paper focuses on development in light of two recent phenomena: the emergence of sustained economic success in the developing world, and the international financial and economic crisis that came out of 2008.

CIGI and the Canadian International Council (CIC) will present the 7th Annual Media Panel Discussion on June 18. The panel, featuring moderator Toronto Star National Security Reporter Michelle Shephard, will discuss the personal stories of four journalists currently exiled from their home countries and the importance of exposing stories for the public good. In his public lecture at CIGI, Peterson Institute for International Economics President Adam Posen argues that, following the Financial Crisis of 2008, the world is returning to a financial state reminiscent of the late 19th century. Through this model, Posen predicts that globalization will continue but become less rules-based than the predecessor state of US hegemony. The full event video is now available online.

CIGI Distinguished Fellow Melissa Hathaway recently addressed a VIP Ottawa audience on the issue of cybersecurity, at the final Global Policy Forum of the season. Melissa's experience as a cybersecurity adviser to US Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and as adviser to the Director of National Intelligence drew a sold-out audience of scholars and policymakers. The exclusive forum discussion is now available to the public on the CIGI website.
