Although Waterloo received its share of kudos yesterday after being named Intelligent Community of the Year, David Johnston suspects many people don't appreciate the significance of the award.

"It's a great day for us. I'm just thrilled," said the president of the University of Waterloo. But Johnston added: "I'm not sure we really understand how significant this is. We were up against the best in the world and we came up with gold. I think it's remarkable and it will be much better understood outside the community rather than within."
