In 2001, The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), a global governance think tank, was established inside the Seagram Distillery Museum at 57 Erb Street West in Uptown Waterloo.

As CIGI marks its tenth anniversary, a second, neighbouring building was opened on Sept. 16, 2011, which will house the more recently established Balsillie School of International Affaires (BSIA).

RIM Executive Jim Balsillie, Waterloo Mayor Brenda Halloran, and BSIA Director David Welch, were all on hand to open CIGI’s new wing. Balsillie, who donated $100 million towards the new initiative, spoke about his deep concern for the state of international …
