The South African High Commissioner to Canada says the visa requirement for South Africans wishing to travel to Canada is “disgusting” and “irritating.”

High Commissioner Membathisi Mdladlana made the comments in Ottawa Tuesday at the Canada Among the Nations 2013 book launch at Carleton University. The event previewed themes from the upcoming book Canada-Africa relations: Looking Back, Looking Ahead by the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and Carleton’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA).

“It’s actually becoming disgusting to say the least,” said Mdladlana about the visa restrictions. “The way the visa question was dealt with is irritating.”
