CIGI Named Among Waterloo Region’s Top Employers for 2019

November 23, 2018

The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) was named one of Waterloo Region’s Top Employers for 2019. The annual list is compiled by publisher Mediacorp Canada Inc. and the special designation recognizes the employers in the Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph area that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.

In this competition, organizations were evaluated based on eight criteria including physical workplace, work atmosphere, benefits, vacation time, employee communications, performance management, training and skills development, and community involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The Top Employers website highlighted why CIGI was selected:

  • CIGI cultivates its fun side through an employee-led social committee that hosts a variety of events throughout the year, such as the annual Pi Day, a viewing party for last year's solar eclipse, an annual holiday party with music, and ice cream and popsicles before every summer long weekend
  • CIGI supports employees who are new mothers and fathers (including adoptive parents) with maternity and parental leave top-up payments, to 75% of salary for up to 11 weeks
  • In addition to three weeks of starting vacation allowance, CIGI offers paid time off during the winter holidays, as well as up to three paid personal days off, which can be scheduled at the employees' discretion

CIGI is committed to providing inspiring work, global engagement opportunities, a motivating and artistic environment, fun workplace activities, a comprehensive benefits package, and an excellent community location.
