Over the last six months or we have seen people take to the streets all over the world in protest over gay rights, bus tickets, parks, austerity measures and constitutional changes. All of them in countries with a democratically elected government .

So are these protests successful and what do they mean for democracy? Is this is a crisis for democracy or a liberating way to hold governments to account? Social media played a huge role in the protests so will we eventually see a democracy app?
