CIGI Global Security Program Director Fen Osler Hampson explains why he is disappointed that Canada is not considering military intervention in Mali. He comments that there may be room for diplomacy, but Mali and neighbouring countries will require military assistance not just from the African Union but the rest of the international community if there is any hope of defeating the al-Qaeda insurgency.
