Firms team up to launch Waterloo IP law clinic for startups

Bereskin & Parr, Miller Thomson and Phillips Lytle have joined with Communitech and the Centre for International Governance Innovation to launch a legal clinic that will provide early-stage startups with advice from leading law school students.

The Intellectual Property Law Clinic, which runs from June to August, will feature seven students from Ontario law schools. They will work closely with the three law firms and CIGI under the supervision of CIGI consultant and practising lawyer James Hinton. The students will also conduct research activities at CIGI and hold law clinic sessions at Communitech locations in Waterloo region.
