Waterloo, Ont. -- To those who have been following the data on greenhouse-gas emissions, the recent United Nations report showing that the United States has done better than Canada in controlling emissions does not come as a "surprise," as claimed by Martin Mittelstaedt (Canada's Greenhouse-Gas Emissions Rise -- Nov. 28). What is a surprise is the sanctimonious and clearly not fact-based position on the part of many Canadian opinion-leaders.
