To go from invention to successful commercial venture, you need scientists or engineers who develop the breakthroughs; financial backers prepared to risk their money and marketers to sell the product.
But equally important are intellectual property lawyers. Too often, entrepreneurs don't think about protecting their inventions until late in the game.
This summer, entrepreneurs with early-stage technology companies in Waterloo Region will get the benefit of some early advice at free intellectual property law clinics that will be run by the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), in partnership with Communitech, and the law firms Bereskin & Parr, Miller Thomsonand Phillips Lytle.
