French President Nicholas Sarkozy might be eager to include China and other emerging economies in the Group of Eight, but experts say China's membership is unlikely to happen any time soon. Before he took off for this year's G8 summit, Mr Sarkozy said in Paris that the group should be expanded to include China and India. "I think it is not reasonable to continue to meet as eight to solve the big questions of the world, forgetting China - 1.3 billion people - and not inviting India - 1 billion people."
