Jerome “Hook” McComb and six other contributors to local history will be inducted into the Waterloo Region Hall of Fame on Sunday.

Thirty-one years after his death, McComb will be recognized for his contributions to community sports as a renowned boxing coach.

The lifelong Kitchener resident took up boxing at the age of 12. He went on to found the Waterloo Region Boxing Academy as a member of the Kitchener Police Department. The academy will hold a reception in McComb’s honour following the 2 p.m. induction ceremony.
