In this CIGI Signature Lecture, sustainability expert Johan Rockström explores how we as a species have passed the tipping point of nature's ability to accommodate for the societal behaviours (and byproducts thereof) required to sustain the global economy. The resulting environmental impacts and disasters that we are seeing illustrate the need for fundamental shifts in our development priorities and the way economy intersects with environment — shifts that are necessary to support the big world we have created on this small planet.
Dr. Frances Westley, J.W. McConnell Chair in Social Innovation at the University of Waterloo, will introduce Dr. Rockström.
