This event will launch the newly published volume of Canada Among Nations 2006: Minorities and Priorities, edited by CIGI's Andrew F. Cooper and Dane Rowlands of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, to the academic and policy communities in Washington, DC.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) will host the launch, which will include a panel discussion of three contributing authors. Christopher Sands, Senior Associate, CSIS Canada Project, will discuss third-country issues in Canada-US security relations, with particular reference to both nations' operations in Afghanistan. Daniel Schwanen, CIGI's Director of Research and Chief Operating Officer, will discuss the evolving Canadian policy on climate change and opportunities for new forms of international cooperation. Yasmine Shamsie, Associate Professor of Political Science, Wilfrid Laurier University, wil discuss Canada's commitment to peacebuilding in Haiti and the role of the diaspora community in promoting action from the government and private groups.

A question and answer period will follow the presentations and copies of the book will be available for purchase.
