In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I, CIGI will be hosting a screening of Passchendaele, the 2008 Genie Award-winning film from actor/director Paul Gross. Passchedaele is based on the events of the 1917 Third Battle of Ypres (also known as the Battle of Passchendaele), and follows the members of the Canadian 10th Battalion, CEF through the conflict which claimed hundreds of thousands of casualties on both sides.

The film will be introduced by James Blight, CIGI Chair in Foreign Policy Development at the Balsillie School of International Affairs

James Blight is the CIGI chair in foreign policy development at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, and an award-winning author and scholar. An expert in oral history, he has been heavily involved in the making of the films The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons From the Life of Robert S. McNamara and Virtual JFK: Vietnam if Kennedy Had Lived.
