"We stand at a critical moment in Earth's history, a time when humanity must choose its future. Towards this end, it is imperative that we, the peoples of Earth, declare our responsibility to one another, to the greater community of life, and to future generations.”

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is, "To establish a sound foundation for the emerging global society and to help build a sustainable world based on respect for nature, diversity, universal human rights, economic justice and a culture of peace." Dr Mitra Doherty will present “The Earth charter” using her photography and travel experience to bring attention to this significant document.

A light lunch will be provided.

Speaker Bio

Dr Mitra Doherty graduated from the School of Dentistry in the University of Manchester University in 1980. Mitra has practiced in both hospital (Dental Intern at UWO and Toronto General) and private offices. She is a member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology and the Canadian Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Mitra has been involved with various organizations over the years. She is currently concerned with the effect of the environment on our total health. Dr Doherty studied photography at Conestoga College and has traveled extensively. In her presentation, of the “Earth Charter,” Mitra highlights the major issues by bringing attention to possible solutions provided in the document. Dr Doherty lives in Waterloo and is a full time practicing Biological dentist.
