CIGI Research Fellow David Kempthorne is attending this two-day meeting in Basel, Switzerland focused on strengthening transparency, accountability and participation in global financial rule-making. The meeting convenes experts from civil society for an intensive workshop and to meet with staff from the Financial Stability Board (FSB) for a face-to-face dialogue.
The workshop has 3 key objectives:
1) Introduce participants to one another, and together, develop recommendations for FSB
2) Breakout sessions on specific topics* between participants and relevant FSB staff where recommendations can be shared and participants can ask “tough” questions.
3) Report on breakout sessions; and develop a preliminary “impact assessment” of FSB work
This workshop is part of the broader initiative “FSB Watch” which tracks decision-making at the FSB and assesses how its actions or inactions impact the real economies in developing countries. Partners in the initiative met in Basel last year for a similar workshop and contributed to the FSB chapter in the 2013 Global Financial Governance & Impact Report.
