Is our ever-increasing connectivity to the internet blurring the lines between our physical and virtual worlds? How can we manage the balance between the benefits and dangers of the Internet of Things (IoT)?

The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is pleased to invite you to a virtual event with CIGI Senior Fellow Dr. Laura DeNardis celebrating the launch of her latest book, The Internet in Everything: Freedom and Security in a World with No Off Switch (Yale University Press, 2020). In her book, Dr. DeNardis introduces the idea that the diffusion of the internet into the physical world radically escalates governance concerns around privacy, discrimination, human safety, democracy and national security. The social and economic benefits of the IoT are great, but the internet infrastructure has become a proxy for political power where an outage in cyberspace could result in not only a loss of communication but also potentially a loss of life.

Join Dr. DeNardis on Wednesday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. ET for a presentation followed by a Q&A on the strengths of power embedded in our existing technology and new cyber policy solutions for a world where everything is connected.
