First International Economic Law Consultation Workshop on Emerging Issues in International Trade and Investment Law

The purpose of this particular consultation workshop is to discuss the topic of Emerging issues in International Trade and Investment Law, to develop a more detailed research agenda in relation to this aspect of international economic law, and to identify research partners who would be interested in collaborating with CIGI. CIGI ILRP is looking to build research partnerships with individuals and institutions with interest and expertise on this topic.

The morning will begin with an overview of the emerging issues in international trade and investment law and the areas of overlap, then will focus on issues in international trade law. The afternoon will focus on issues in international investment law and will end with a discussion about opportunities for specific and tangible research projects on international trade and international investment law. Topics to be discussed will include:

  • Issues in Trade Law: Plurilateral versus Multilateral trade agreements 
  • Issues in Trade Law: Trade subsidies 
  • Issues in Investment Law 
  • Specific opportunties to have impact
