With an increasing number of states expressing interest in nuclear energy, France is aggressively promoting itself as an exemplar of a nuclear-reliant country and exporter of nuclear expertise and technology. Mycle Schneider will discuss the French campaign to promote its nuclear industry as well as the caveats and illusions associated with this strategy.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Speaker Bio

Mycle Schneider founded the World Information Service on Energy (Paris) in 1983 and directed it until 2003. He has acted as a consultant to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the European Union, several state environment ministries and non-governmental organizations. Since 2004 he has led the Environment and Energy Strategies Lecture at École des Mines in Nantes, France, and is a member of the International Panel on Fissile Materials (IPFM), based at Princeton University.
