CIGI and the Reset Initiative are pleased to host the Global Platform Governance Network (GPGN) Transparency Group meeting on May 31, 2022, from 7 to 8 AM EDT (UTC-4).

Led by Mark MacCarthy, and building on its first published report, the transparency working group will continue to add to and enhance current international conversations, focusing efforts on additional issues that have emerged as governments have moved forward with transparency measures globally. These include:

  • auditability and risks to privacy;
  • transparency beyond social media;
  • new roles for civil society and researchers; and
  • vertical and horizontal transparency efforts.

This first session will enable members to share recent developments (since our March 2022 meeting) and to contribute to co-developing a concrete, achievable work plan that the group will report back on at the end of the year. A draft work plan will be shared with the group ahead of the meeting.
