Speaker Bio

Dr. Kerton is Professor of Economics, University of Waterloo. He is author of Double Standards: Consumer and Worker Protection in an Unequal World (1990) and co-editor of Appropriate Products (1983). He was elected President of the American Council on Consumer Interests (2003-04); and Chair of the Board of the North-South Institute (1994-96). His research addresses the connections among trade, competition, and product quality. He works with developing country NGOs, for governance institutions on international competition policy and on the consumer interest in trade policy. Bob served as Visiting Research Associate at Consumers International in Penang, Malaysia and currently he is an Advisor for the Indian Institute for Consumer Studies, Bangalore.
