The European Institute and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) will co-host a roundtable discussion with Servaas Deroose, Deputy Director-General at the Directorate-General for Economics and Financial Affairs (ECFIN) of the European Commission in Brussels.
Mr. Deroose will assess the current state of the European economy and impact of EU policies, with a particular focus on the European Commission's approach to fiscal policy in EU member states.
Mr. Deroose will also address ways to deepen the European Monetary Union (EMU), especially what steps are being taken to strengthen the EMU and promote stronger and sustainable growth.
CIGI Global Economy Program Director Domenico Lombardi and Senior Fellow Miranda Xafa will particiapte in the discussion.
