The GIR Workshop was initiated with a first meeting on September 16, 2005 at the CIGI headquarters in Waterloo Ontario. At this initial meeting we determined to explore the meaning and consequences of a “New Multilateralism. This CIGI Workshop has launched an analysis and evaluation of reform reports for global governance institutions in the security and political-economy realms. Workshop participants are looking for the road to greater international stability and conflict management in the global system. Today we have a series of commissioned studies underway (see above). It is hoped that before the completion of the Project we will have a full complement of papers on the New Multilateralism that will be gathered together in a published volume.
