The re-emergence of democratic India and India’s deepening engagement with Canada

Vishnu Prakash, India's High Commissioner to Canada, will share thoughts on the rise of secular  and pluralistic India, the nation’s outlook, economic heft, soft-power, as well as, political and security challenges. He will also discuss growing India-Canada engagement and the road ahead.

David A. Welch, CIGI Senior Fellow and Chair of Global Security at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, will serve as a discussant for this presentation.

Event Speakers

Margaret Walton-Roberts is a professor at WLU and associate Dean of the School of International Policy and Governance at the BSIA.  She is a human geographer with research interests in gender and the international migration of health care professionals in the context of India. Her latest co-edited book The Human Right to Citizenship: A Slippery Concept  is published by University of Pennsylvania Press. 

David A. Welch is a CIGI senior fellow and professor of political science at the University of Waterloo. An award-winning author and scholar, David is an expert in foreign policy decision making and international security, with an emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region.
