This lecture will focus on emerging powers and explore their impact on the economic, strategic, and diplomatic levels. Which are the key powers, and how are they shaping the landscape of 21st century geopolitics?

Speaker Biography

Parag Khanna is Director of the Global Governance Initiative and Senior Research Fellow in the American Strategy Program at the New America Foundation. He is author of The Second World: Empires and Influence in the New Global Order (Random House, 2008), which has been translated into over ten languages worldwide. During 2007 he was a senior geopolitical advisor to United States Special Operations Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. From 2002-5, he was the Global Governance Fellow at the Brookings Institution. From 2000-2002 he worked at the World Economic Forum in Geneva, where he specialized in scenario and risk planning for Forum member companies and emerging markets. Parag is a host of InnerView on MTV, served in the foreign policy advisory group to the Barack Obama presidential campaign, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Explorers Club. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Georgetown University and the London School of Economics.
