Invited civil society representatives, parliamentarians, academics, policy and decision makers from Germany and other countries will discuss CIGI’s proposal of a Sovereign Debt Forum in the context of other proposals and an ongoing political process towards the creation of a sovereign debt workout mechanism in the euro zone as well as globally.
The roundtable will be followed by a workshop on further co-operation among CIGI and European NGOs, academics, parliamentarians from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
This event is jointly organized by erlassjahr.de (Jubilee Debt Campaign Germany), Brot für die Welt (Protestant Development Service), CIGI, World Economy, Ecology & Development (WEED), and the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
Brett House is a CIGI Senior Fellow. Additionally, he is a Visiting Scholar at Massey College, University of Toronto and Lecturer in the Economics Department and a Senior Fellow at the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation at McGill University. His research looks at the effects of trade liberalization on growth, the rise of emerging markets, and options to improve sovereign debt restructuring. He is also an advisor to and partner in Tau+ Investment Management, a start-up impact fund.
