As part of CIGI's Nuclear Energy Futures Project, a discussion group on the current state of the Canadian nuclear industry and its prospects will be held at Carleton University. Participants will include federal and provincial officials, nuclear industry regulators, private sector representatives, academics and civil society.

This facilitated, one-day discussion will focus on potential drivers and constraints in respect of a possible revival in nuclear energy.  It will consider the Canadian industry’s strengths and weaknesses as well as the challenges it faces competing internationally and will address the challenges it faces competing domestically and internationally and the key public policy issues driving its future.

The Roundtable discussions will be used as background material for the upcoming publication entitled "The Canadian Nuclear Industry: Status and Prospects" to be released later in 2009.
