Energy Futures Available Today:
Integrating Residential Energy Savings and Solar Initiatives
Innovative policies, governance and cases from Europe and Canada

This conference highlights solutions available today to achieve future energy goals.

The goal of the conference "Energy Futures Available Today" is to enable international researchers, policy advisors and building professionals to meet and exchange information to understand current initiatives, to share lessons gained, to promote effective mechanisms and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the residential sector. Advanced conservation is proposed to achieve much greater improvements than that gained in routine retrofits. Solar energy is proposed because it is easily incorporated at the residential scale through passive design features as well as photovoltaic (solar electric), active solar thermal technologies, or integrated solar and geo-thermal technologies. The integration of approaches to reduce demand with those providing local energy supplies creates benefits for the whole system. Economic efficiency and environmental performance are enhanced.
