The Centre for International Governance Innovation hosted Bank of Canada (BoC) Deputy Governor Timothy Lane for a presentation on capital flows in the context of globalization. He reviewed key trends in capital flows, the benefits and challenges of financial globalization, and Canada’s experience building policy tools to enable capital mobility.
Lane was appointed deputy governor of the BoC, effective February 2009. In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing the BoC’s analysis of international economic developments in support of monetary policy decisions. As a member of the BoC’s Governing Council, he shares responsibility for decisions with respect to monetary policy and financial system stability, and for setting the strategic direction of the BoC.
