Lucie Edwards, a former Canadian High Commissioner and current Ph.D. candidate in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, visits Inside the Issues to consider how the interface between science and public policy is having an effect on climate change, food security and biodiversity. As bridging scientific and policy world views remains a huge challenge, Edwards notes the need to improve communication and introduce opportunities for these groups to engage and cooperate both at a regional and international level. The discussion concludes with a hope that by making scientific knowledge more accessible and understandable to policy makers we can work toward improving both the science and the public policy that it informs.
