Inside the Issues 3.6 | US Presidential Election

With the US presidential election just a week away, David Welch welcomes Philip Brenner, Professor, American University, to Inside the Issues for a discussion on US foreign policy. The conversation opens with a review of the last debate and the perceived contrast, or lack thereof, between the candidates. Prof. Brenner then offers a broad review of US foreign relations, touching on Israel and the Middle East, Latin America, China, and Cuba. Finally, narrowing in on the distinction between the candidates, Brenner suggests that Obama has a stronger understanding of the limits of US power and a greater willingness to cooperate globally while Romney may take a more aggressive approach to foreign policy, giving the US military greater autonomy.

Hosted by CIGI Chair David Welch, the Inside the Issues podcast is also available on the CIGI YouTube channel and on iTunes video and audio.
