CIGI President Rohinton Medhora visits Inside the Issues to discuss the 2013 edition of Canada Among Nations — Canada-Africa Relations: Looking Back, Looking Ahead. Beginning with a brief background on the series, Dr. Medhora comments on the timeliness of the current edition given recent shifts in Canadian foreign policy and ongoing economic and political development throughout Africa. He notes that the idea of coherence in Canada's foreign policy on Africa is somewhat idealistic, suggesting instead that we need to be flexible, opportunistic and realistic in our partnerships given the diversity of priorities and challenges involved. The image of Canada in Africa and the role of non-traditional donors in Africa are also discussed. Tune in for the full conversation or consider joining us at one of our upcoming panel discussions exploring Canada-Africa relations happening this month in Vancouver (October 8) and Montreal (October 15). In addition, we encourage you to explore the book's interactive website, which showcases video commentary from the authors along with chapter excerpts.
