"When Do We Intervene? International Response in Arab and African Conflicts"

On April 18, 2011, CIGI hosted "When do we Intervene? International Response in Arab and African Conflicts" with Aly Verjee, a senior researcher at the Rift Valley Institute. In his talk, Verjee posed the question, "Why intervene in Libya and not Cote D'Ivoire?" Without guiding principles on when to intervene, will strategic backwaters consistently be overlooked? Are we doomed to repeat non-interventions in Rwanda and Darfur?
