Bio

Dawn Dimowo is the program manager for CIGI’s Global AI Risks Initiative, providing leadership, research, analysis and strategic advice on the national and international policies and approaches for mitigating emerging global risks from artificial intelligence (AI). Part of her work focuses on collaborative engagements with the Global South to promote wider international contributions to global AI governance and safety efforts.

Before joining CIGI, Dawn led government affairs and public policy for Google in West Africa, focusing on co-creating the frameworks and investment programs to accelerate digital transformation and sustainable growth of the digital economy. Beyond representing Google externally in engagements with policy makers, regulators and third-party partners, she successfully advanced specific policy priorities centred on economic opportunity, online content, data governance and AI.

Prior to Google, Dawn consulted for government, the private sector and development partners in Africa for more than eight years, advising on policy interventions and investments to address strategic priorities in technology, digital and financial inclusion, health care and energy. She also previously worked at a government agency in Nigeria and at INTERPOL’s Office of Legal Affairs in France.

Dawn is a qualified lawyer and holds a master’s degree in international law with a public administration emphasis from Pantheon-Assas University in Paris, France.
