Georgina Wainwright-Kemdirim

Georgina Wainwright-Kemdirim is a former official at Global Affairs Canada with more than 35 years of experience working in international trade promotion and trade policy, and currently serves as vice president, policy for the Organization for Women in International Trade, Ottawa Chapter.

Bio

Georgina Wainwright-Kemdirim is a former senior official at Global Affairs Canada. She served as lead negotiator of Canada’s inclusive trade chapters in free trade agreements and plurilateral arrangements, the Global Trade and Gender Arrangement and the Indigenous Peoples Economic and Trade Cooperation Arrangement. She also developed Canada’s ground-breaking approach for conducting a comprehensive gender and inclusive analysis of trade negotiations and final agreements, and is currently providing training on how to do this at the Canadian Foreign Service Institute.

After more than 35 years of service, Georgina retired from the federal public service in January 2024. Over her career, Georgina led economic and trade policy work for Canada related to a wide range of geographies (Indo Pacific, Latin America and Europe) and issues, including responsible business conduct, sustainable development and impact assessments.

Recently, she was appointed vice president, policy at the Ottawa Chapter of the Organization for Women in International Trade (OWIT-Ottawa), and has started up Synergies Trade Consulting, a boutique consultancy providing international trade advisory, training and communications services.
